Raving Dove was published online between 2004 and 2011. The publication is currently closed.

Mission Statement

Raving Dove is an online literary journal whose mission is to share thought-provoking prose and poetry that champions human rights and social justice, and opposes physical and psychological violence in all its forms, including war, discrimination against sexual orientation, and every shade of bigotry. Raving Dove is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian endeavor.

Jo-Ann Moss has been a writer, editor, and webmaster for over 25 years. She's passionate about human rights and social justice, and hopes that one day her children and grandchildren can enjoy a more peaceful world. Raving Dove was a labor of love that Jo-Ann edited on a purely volunteer basis.


Chronology

July 2004: Publication is launched online.
May 2006: Raving Dove, Inc. becomes a 501c3 nonprofit.
January 2008: Raving Dove is ranked #1 for poetry in an online journal in the Preditors and Editors Readers' Poll.
March 2008: Raving Dove® is federally trademarked, and also receives a Google Grant.
June 2008: Issue #13 is published, marking four years and an accumulation of work from 19 countries.
November 2008: Raving Dove reopens after a brief hiatus and presents a broader mission statement.
January 2009: Raving Dove presents its winter 2008/2009 edition and is ranked #1 for poetry in an online journal in the Preditors and Editors Readers' Poll ... second year in a row.
April 2009: Raving Dove receives a grant from Equity Foundation (Portland, Oregon) in support of the Raving Dove of Hope Award, a nonfiction essay competition about nondiscrimination for Oregon high school students.
June 2009: Raving Dove marks five years online.
September 2009: Issue #17 is published, and The Raving Dove of Hope Award is launched.
December 2009: Issue #18 is published, and The Raving Dove of Hope Award winners are announced, at www.ravingdove.me.
2010: Recharging.
2011: Reopened to creative nonfiction and poetry
April 2011: Issue #19 is published.
